How income tax is charged
Cyprus taxes personal income in bands: nothing on the first €22,000, then 20% to €32,000, 25% to €42,000, 30% to €72,000, 35% above that. Employees also pay 8.8% social insurance (up to the insurable-earnings ceiling of €68,904) and 2.65% GESY; the self-employed pay 16.6% and 4%.
New residents may qualify for a 50% exemption on employment income above a threshold for many years - a large saving this calculator does not assume. Source for the bands: the Cyprus Tax Department.
Your income tax, band by band
On €45,000 a year you keep about €34,448 after income tax, social insurance and GESY. Allowances, pension contributions and the 50% relocation exemption can change this.
